Inclusion and Learning Support Services

Learning Support plays a crucial role in fostering inclusion at RAGs by providing tailored education that meets the unique needs of each student. Our Learning Support Services (LSS) utilize a variety of strategies, including collaboration, co-teaching, push-in, and pull-out lessons, to support students with diverse learning needs. LSS teachers work closely with classroom teachers to customize programmes, ensuring students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications. They also provide targeted intervention programmes and coordinate referrals to professionals when necessary, partnering with specialists to arrange therapy and specialized programmes from community professionals.
The LSS team is comprised of specialists dedicated to providing targeted support, collaborating with families on individualized learning plans, and working alongside colleagues to support all learners effectively. This is achieved through the use of assessment data, cooperation with external service providers, and ongoing discussions with leadership, admissions, counselling, and English Language Learning teams.

Levels of Assistance

Our collaborative approach enables us to provide comprehensive support for all learners, structured around tiered levels of assistance. These tiers are not fixed placements or designations; rather, they represent the range of supports available and are designed to be flexible, adapting to a student’s evolving learning journey.

Tier 1 – Universal Instruction

All learners receive universally designed instruction, ensuring an inclusive approach that meets the needs of most students. Students are offered choices to personalize their learning journey, fostering engagement and supporting individual preferences.

Tier 2 – Targeted Instruction

Tier 2 offers more intensive, targeted, and supplemental support in addition to Tier 1 instruction. Students receive assistance in small groups or one-on-one, as needed, utilizing evidence-based intervention materials embedded within the core curriculum. Tier 2 is specifically designed to support students with mild to moderate learning difficulties.

English language learners throughout the Primary School

Our English Language Learning (ELL) programmes are designed to provide equitable access and opportunities for English learners. ELL teachers regularly collaborate with classroom teachers through conferences and planning sessions to address students’ needs and develop effective strategies to support their progress.

Our ELL teacher is a specialist committed to providing targeted support for English language learners across the Primary School. They integrate seamlessly into classrooms to facilitate English acquisition within the regular learning environment while also offering targeted interventions. Regular diagnostic testing, using the Cambridge English Scale (Below A1, A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 & C2), ensures accurate assessment of student progress. Additionally, our Primary School ELL teacher actively engages in collaborative planning sessions with grade-level teaching teams to incorporate appropriate content into instruction and assessments effectively.
